This site is built for every resident
Manatee County government serves everyone, and its website should too. This design concept is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, and the accessibility expectations of Title II of the ADA and Section 508.
Our commitment, in practice
Perceivable
Meaningful alt text on every image, captions-ready media, text that scales without breaking, and color contrast that meets or exceeds WCAG 2.1 AA (4.5:1 for text) on every page.
Operable
A visible skip-to-content link, full keyboard navigation, clear focus indicators, 44px-plus tap targets, and honored 'reduce motion' settings for anyone sensitive to animation.
Understandable
Plain language over jargon, consistent navigation, clearly labeled forms with helpful error messages, and predictable behavior throughout the site.
Robust
Semantic HTML landmarks, correct heading structure (one H1 per page), ARIA used only where it helps, and a build tested against modern assistive technology.
